Description

Calcite Granules.

Calcite is a naturally occurring calcium carbonate media. It is safe for drinking water applications and adds calcium an essential mineral to the water supply.

One of the advantages of Calcite is its self-limiting property. When properly applied, it corrects pH only enough to reach a non-corrosive equilibrium. It does not over correct under normal conditions . The pH level will not exceed more than 8 and the required contact time depends on the initial pH. Typical contact times range from 1  to 2 minutes.

Calcite Granules  will add hardness to the water and in some cases a water softener may be required.  The addition of calcium and other minerals will yield less corrosive water.  The impact on the langelier saturation index needs to be considered, if the water is used in boiler applications.  We can also offer automated magnesium hydroxide dosing systems, that can help with alkalinity boosting.  For applications where the addition of hardness to the water is not desirable we recommend the use of soda ash.

Periodic backwashing will prevent packing, reclassify the bed and maintain high service rates.

Depending on pH, water chemistry and service flow, the Calcite will have to be replenished as the Calcite is depleted.

Granule size 3.5 to 1.2 mm

We offer Calcite filters with automated backwash filters and for limited budgets refillable jumbo filter housings that can be replenished when the calcite granules are consumed.
