Dolomitic Limestone Granules for raising pH
Dolomitic limestone granules will provide faster pH correction ( pH up) than calcite , and is used where the water is extremely acidic. The finer media also has a much high specific surface area, hence allowing for a a faster rate of reaction.
When limestone has high magnesium content it is called Dolomite or Dolomitic Limestone. Dolomite is generally defined as having a minimum magnesium carbonate content of 28% and a minimum calcium carbonate content of 35%.
Dolomitic limestone is a naturally occurring calcium magnesium carbonate media and will add both calcium and magnesium to the water, both essential minerals.
When properly applied, it corrects pH only enough to reach a non-corrosive equilibrium. It does not overcorrect under normal conditions.
Upon contact with Limestone, acidic waters slowly dissolve the calcium magnesium carbonate to raise the pH which reduces the potential leaching of copper, lead and other metals found in typical plumbing systems.
Can be used in smaller refillable filter cartridges, as well as Jumbo Filters and Back washable filters.
Periodic backwashing will prevent packing, reclassify the bed and maintain high service rates in larger vessels.
Depending on pH, water chemistry and service flow, the Limestone will have to be replenished as the Limestone is depleted.
