DETAILS: DUAL STAGE ULTRAFILTRATION SYSTEM
The KCW 800 two stage Stainless Steel Ultrafiltration system uses thousands of ultrafiltration hollow fibre membrane strands. Each membrane strand contains billions of microscopic pores. Household water pressure pushes water molecules through these pores towards the hollow centre of the membrane. The membrane filtration provides 99.9999% reduction of bacteria and 99.99% of virus by mechanical means. Filtered water then flows through each fibre and is distributed to every household fixture.
Due to the small pore size, particles that are too large to pass through are physically blocked out, while dissolved salts and essential minerals freely pass through.
Unlike Reverse Osmosis, Ultrafiltration does not remove the dissolved mineral salts, hence the filtered water is not acidic and provides improved health benefits.
The KCW -800 Ultrafiltration unit provides a high flow of up to 800 l/hr of filtered drinking water. The membrane system needs to be installed so that the drain water is plumbed up to a fixture that can be used for non-potable purpose. This will ensure that the membrane module is flushed on a regular basis and will not clog up. The permeate flow can be connected to the potable applications, with two options :
Purified Water Outlet: Water by-passes secondary stage ( Calgon activated carbon and KDF filter) and can be used for other potable water applications. This water has only passed through the ultrafiltration module.
Drinking Water Outlet: Water passes through the secondary filter and gets filtered through the activated carbon module and KDF filter to remove any traces of chlorine, chloramine etc and produce great tasting water.
It is recommended that a 5 micron sediment filter is installed prior to ultrafiltration to protect the hollow fibres contained within the UF module. If rain water is used we also recommend a carbon block filter after the 5 micron sediment filter.
